Armel Dupas Trio | Nocturnes | November 13, 2026
French pianist, composer and producer Armel Dupas brings together melodic jazz, warm acoustic textures and understated improvisation on Nocturnes, the sixth album from his trio. Perhaps their most intimate recording to date, the album explores a quieter, more contemplative side of the group, drawing on the nocturne tradition to reflect on change, reinvention, friendship and the search for calm.
Nocturnes is set for release on November 13th, 2026.
Formed in 2021, the Armel Dupas Trio has become one of the most streamed French jazz acts worldwide, with more than 40 million Spotify streams across five previous albums. Rooted in the piano trio tradition while incorporating elements of folk songwriting, French chanson and European jazz, the group has developed a melodic approach that balances accessibility with close collective interplay. Their 2025 album Everyday Superheroes was praised by TSF Jazz, FIP, RFI and Jazz Mania.
Nocturnes features seven pieces, combining original compositions with reinterpretations of songs by Joni Mitchell and Emilíana Torrini. Recorded around Dupas’ felt piano, the album takes inspiration from the lyrical piano-trio traditions of Bill Evans, John Taylor and the ECM catalogue, while maintaining the trio’s own melodic voice. Rather than emphasising virtuosity or complexity, the music leaves space for nuance, silence and atmosphere.
Several compositions revisit periods of change, travel and personal reinvention in Dupas’ life, but the album ultimately looks towards serenity rather than nostalgia or loss. Jules Billé on double bass and Christophe Piot on drums contribute a strong sense of space and trust, allowing the arrangements to develop naturally and giving each piece room to breathe.
Dupas is a graduate of the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) and has collaborated with artists including Henri Texier, Sandra Nkaké, David Linx and Catherine Ringer, alongside his work as an independent artist and bandleader. With Nocturnes, the trio presents a focused, intimate set designed as a complete listening experience – music for slowing down, reflecting and reconnecting with the possibilities of acoustic sound.
