‘Le Grand Michel’ is set to release on October 25th on Prophone Records.

A followup to her 2022 release ‘ROOTS’ – which featured leading American saxophonist Seamus Blake – Buczek’s music sees her proudly carrying the torch of the great jazz singers of the 20th Century. With an emphasis on rhythm, soul, and blues as well as the sincerity of storytelling, Buczek’s dynamic and emotive style conveys an irrefutable embodiment of the rich tradition of vocal jazz.

Legrand’s music in combination with beautiful lyrics written by Alan & Marilyn Bergman stand for what I want to convey to my audience; romance, dynamism, melancholy but also blues and swing.”

Joining forces once again with Swedish pianist Martin Sjöstedt, her collaborator of over ten years, Sjöstedt’s bold arrangements present Legrand’s classics in a refreshing new context, interpreted with a playful modern spirit by a world class Swedish/Danish rhythm section. 

The record features special guests in Danish World Champion (2013) of the Chromatic Harmonica Mathias Heise, and multi-award winning Swedish trumpeter Peter Asplund; their effortlessly melodic improvisations elevate the ensemble’s sound through warm textural contrast and the compelling energy of spontaneity.
