Featuring acclaimed U.S. drummer Allan Mednard (Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks) and longtime collaborator, Danish bassist Richard Andersson, Sayeh brings together three fiercely individual artists in a conversation defined by intuition, energy and emotional range. 

The result is an intimate and dynamic record that shifts seamlessly between original compositions, spontaneous improvisations, and reimagined works by Andrew Hill, Paul Motian, and Carla Bley.

From the first notes, Linnert’s deeply expressive playing sets the tone: raw, searching, and unafraid of risk. Mednard and Andersson respond in kind, balancing sensitivity with precision, and pushing the music forward at every turn. Together, the trio crafts a sound that feels both rooted and exploratory—bridging lyrical tradition and modern abstraction.

Linnert’s path has been far from conventional. A rising star on the Copenhagen scene in his teens, he left the conservatory in search of something more personal, studying in New York with Sophia Rosoff, Jason Moran, and David Binney. After a decade away from music, he settled in Portland, Oregon, before relocating to Brooklyn in 2017, where late-night sets at the Village Vanguard rekindled his love of improvisation and led to the release of his 2020 album Of Visions.

Sayeh signals a new chapter. At once grounded and untethered, it’s a trio record that sidesteps clichés in favor of raw connection and shared discovery—honoring the lineage of the piano trio while carving a path entirely its own.
