Sara Aldén | Force of Nature | April 10, 2026
Following her Swedish Grammis win for Jazz of the Year 2025, vocalist and composer Sara Aldén returns with Force of Nature, a sweeping, emotional, and unflinchingly honest new album that concludes the trilogy she began with A Room of One’s Own (2022) and continued with There Is No Future (2024). Rooted in jazz but reaching far beyond its borders, Force of Nature affirms Aldén’s arrival as a singular voice in contemporary music, bold in message, tender in form, and utterly uncompromising in vision.
Working with her long-standing trio, Daniel Andersson Runevad (upright bass) and August Björn (keys), Aldén crafts music that draws from Swedish folk tradition, the jazz canon, and a deeply personal sense of story. On Force of Nature, that story turns toward regeneration: the seed after collapse, the spark after silence. “It’s about life force, lust, desire, grief, and love, not just romantic love, but love for yourself, your child, the earth,” Aldén shares. “This is music about movement, about continuing.”
Entirely composed by Aldén herself, Force of Nature marks a full artistic arrival. The album moves between elemental power and introspective clarity, letting improvisation, song, and raw sound become vehicles for existential reflection. At its core is a belief in music as both resistance and renewal, jazz as a space where the body, the political, and the poetic can co-exist without compromise.
While anchored in her trio’s intimate dynamic, the record expands its palette through powerful collaborations with Hannes Bennich, Nils Landgren, and Michelle Willis, artists chosen not for genre or prestige, but for their resonance with Aldén’s vision. “These were relationships built on trust,” she says. “On shared values. That was everything.” The recording process embraced presence and vulnerability, allowing emotion and embodiment to shape the sound.
Named Vocal Jazz Artist of the Year 2024 by Lira Musikmagasin, Aldén has already established herself as a leading force in Scandinavian jazz. But Force of Nature is something more than a career milestone—it is an artistic manifesto. A record that doesn’t turn away from the darkness of our time, but insists on the possibility that still exists within it. It is music that breathes, confronts, heals, and moves forward. A force in itself.
