Aneta George | Eclipses | November 14, 2025

Paris-based Macedonian vocalist Aneta George’s music tells the tale of loss, healing through a captivating fusion of jazz, Balkan and improvised music. Recorded to coincide with two major celestial events, her deeply personal fifth album, Eclipses, is out on November 14th, 2025.

Spurred by the emotional aftermath of losing her beloved dog, each composition became a powerful act of sonic therapy, channeling grief into profound musical expression.

In a highly original creative approach, inspired by a conversation with Steve Coleman, Aneta coordinated the album’s recording sessions with two major celestial events of 2024—a total solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse—to capture their visceral energy within the music. The result is an eight-track journey, each piece infused with distinct emotional and cosmic significance.

The Solar Eclipse session yielded four deeply reflective compositions: “Truth,” a Macedonian slam poetry-inspired invocation, and “Echoes,” a tender tribute to her dog, resonating with quiet remembrance and hope. It also produced “Prayer to the Sun,” an intimate dialogue between Aneta’s transcendent vocals and Nico Bauers’s grounding electric bass improvisations, and “Denis Oro,” a joyful tribute merging traditional Macedonian dance with dynamic jazz improvisation.

The Lunar Eclipse session expanded the album’s thematic reach: “Wake Up,” an energetic blend of Arabic Oriental Balkan funk celebrating youthful creativity, and “Rollercoaster,” capturing life’s unpredictability through cinematic melodies. “Ne Si Go Prodavaj Koljo Cifligot,” a traditional Macedonian piece, serves as a heartfelt homage to her uncle, and “Dharma,” a powerful fusion of drum-and-bass with Balkan jazz, symbolizes the relentless search for purpose.

Together, these two sessions present a cohesive and profound personal narrative interwoven with universal themes of loss, inspiration, and connection. Through the unique lens of celestial alignment, and with her long-standing musicians who also sit at the centre of Parisian star Magic Malik’s band, Aneta George delivers a transformative musical experience, echoing with both human vulnerability and cosmic wonder.

Eclipses is not just an album—it’s an offering. A soundtrack for those navigating change, seeking stillness, or yearning to reconnect with something deeper.

“Making this album had a healing effect on me, I hope that the listeners will feel that too.”

Sparked by the loss of her beloved dog, the songs became a kind of sonic ritual—part grief, part healing, part devotion.

Aneta has carved out a unique space in the jazz and world music scenes. Her work has been described by All About Jazz as showing “bravery and assuredness in going fully original.”

Commended by All About Jazz for her “bravery and assuredness in going fully original,” Paris-based Macedonian vocalist and composer Aneta George has spent over a decade performing across Europe, from Eastern stages to festivals in France where she is now based.

She has released four previous albums and appeared at major festivals including the Belgrade Jazz Festival, Carousel Festival in Čačak, and the World Spiritual Festival in India.
