Set for release on 25th September 2026 via Yoruba Girl Records, Lost & Found draws on memories spanning three generations, from TOKUNBO’s childhood in Nigeria and adolescence in Germany to motherhood and her life as an artist. Written during retreats in a treehouse and by the North Sea, the songs explore family, cultural identity, female empowerment and reconciling past and present.

Looking back, TOKUNBO realised her four solo albums naturally align with the classical elements. If Queendom Come represents fire, The Swan air and Golden Days earth, Lost & Found became the water album, shaped by movement, memory and constant change.

Musically, Lost & Found blends fingerpicked acoustic guitars, subtle jazz influences and understated orchestration with TOKUNBO’s expressive vocals. Longtime collaborators Ulrich Rode, Matthias “Maze” Meusel, Christian Flohr and Anne de Wolff return, while acclaimed engineer Marc Ebermann—whose mentors include Al Schmitt and Michael Brauer—handled the mix. Recorded at Hamburg’s BluHouse Studio, the album combines handcrafted acoustic arrangements with cinematic textures and rich vocal harmonies. TOKUNBO’s previous three solo albums have also become reference recordings within the hi-fi community.

Among its thirteen songs, 70s Magazine Memory imagines the first meeting of TOKUNBO’s parents, while True DNA examines the barriers still facing women, To Be Alive reflects on responsibility towards future generations, and Empty Nest looks ahead to her child’s future. Throughout the album, personal experiences become reflections on belonging, resilience and the stories we inherit.

Inspired by Vermeer, Picasso and Frida Kahlo, the artwork symbolises TOKUNBO’s Nigerian and German heritage through its contrasting eyes, reinforcing Lost & Found as a unified artistic statement.

With Lost & Found, TOKUNBO continues to refine the “Folk Noir” sound that has become her hallmark—intimate acoustic songwriting shaped by jazz, folk and pop influences, united by a thoughtful approach to storytelling. The result is her most complete exploration yet of identity, family and the places we return to while finding our way forward.
