JAZZFUEL MANAGER

a 3 month programme to simplify your career plans and make some real progress with your project

Next edition starts: 20th April 2021

If you don’t have a manager to help you organise your career, it’s easy to get distracted or tangled up with all the different things you ‘should’ be doing.

It’s also hard to set goals and stick to them, when there’s no one helping keep you accountable and, as a result, motivated!

The Jazzfuel Manager programme provides you with 3 months of 1-to-1 support, online ‘watch-when-you-want lessons’ and a great community of like-minded musicians and industry guests to make some big steps forward with your project.

Every project and career is different, so rather than having a fixed plan of what to work on, we’ll guide you through 3 monthly ‘areas’ and help you figure out which are the most useful for you.

It’s all online, there are no fixed-hours, but you do need to be ready and willing to put in some work each week!

If that sounds interesting, you can find out more below…

The next edition starts April 20th 2021.

Here’s what’s you’ll get between April-July 2021:

  • Monthly 1-to-1 consulting call (by video, or text-chat if you prefer) to set your goals and plan your next steps
  • Video sessions and Q&As hosted by industry guests from North America and Europe
  • Monthly members hangout on Zoom
  • Community support: access to a members-only forum where you can get feedback and support on anything you want and see what everyone else is working on.
  • Access to mini-courses & video tutorials on topics including social media, Bandcamp, mailing lists, Facebook, press campaigns and more.
  • Access to the Jazzfuel Manager vault: replay recordings of previous live sessions and trainings including Facebook ads, PR campaigns, career strategy and goal-setting.

Each month we’ll be focusing on a different area, and we’ll help you decide the most relevant bits for you…

Firstly, we’ll work with you 1-to-1 to start figuring out a long-term plan for your project, that will help you keep focused over the coming weeks.

After that, we’ll be focusing on content in these monthly areas…

Programme overview

April: Promo Tools

We’ll be looking at how to make your promotional materials and assets as effective as possible. Depending on where you’re at with your project, your work could include:

  • Reviewing your photos and video content
  • Rewriting your press texts and biography
  • Selecting press quotes, or getting new ones
  • Website updates and improvements
  • Social media makeovers
  • Spotify profile set up

May: Audience Development

We’ll help you come up with a plan for growing the number of fans you have and improving the ways in which you’re connecting with them. This could include:

  • Growing your mailing list and improving your newsletter plans
  • Establishing your Bandcamp presence
  • Increasing your fan engagement on social media
  • Getting faster traction on Spotify

June: Industry Networking

We’ll figure out what connections you need to be making for 2021 and help you put a plan in place. This could include:

  • Connecting with journalists
  • Planning a press campaign for a new release
  • Reaching Spotify playlisters
  • Growing your database of clubs and festivals
  • Setting up an online database to store your contacts
  • Researching agents and other industry influencers

What you’ll have by the end of the programme?

The goal is that by the end of the 3 months, you will have made big progress on a few of the key topics for you and, more importantly, have a clear plan for continuing your work.

The programme is intentionally flexible so that it can be most useful for each person, individually.

Who are you?

“I have a new release planned”

Have you got a new release coming later in 2021 and want to give yourself the best platform to launch it from? The programme for you might look like this:

  • Get your bio and press materials into shape and update your website
  • Put a plan into place for a regular newsletter and good Facebook content, so your audience will be engaged when you want them to support you.
  • Set up your Bandcamp page and start getting into that community
  • Build a target list of press contacts and get your pitching emails prepared

“I just started a new project”

Have you just started a new project and need to get ‘everything’ sorted? We’ll help you work through the relevant tasks to get that launch happening as quickly as possible:

  • Social media & Spotify profiles up and running
  • Mailing list set up and a good plan in place for growing it
  • Ideas on how to get your first gigs
  • Brainstorm ideas for a 2021 release schedule of singles and videos

“I’m an established musician looking for career support”

Are you a relatively established musician already but have the feeling you’re not making the most of all the possible marketing techniques to make your work-life easier and more successful?

  • We’ll help you understand Facebook ads and funnels
  • Get industry feedback on your press & gig-pitching emails
  • Come up with a strategy for tour booking or growing your ‘team’
  • Building a following on a new platform, such as Youtube or Bandcamp

Is Jazzfuel Manager right for me?

Maybe you can identify with some of these things that jazz musicians have shared with us…

  • “I struggle marketing my project”
  • “I need to learn about effective release strategies & promotion on a budget”
  • “It’s hard to keep the ball rolling and not slumping”
  • “I need to put systems in place to do the massive amount of work required to promote my band”
  • “I struggle with building and maintaining momentum!”

If you want help to clarify your goals and figure out how to manage your career more effectively, Jazzfuel Manager is for you.

Who teaches Jazzfuel Manager?

Firstly, it’s important to note that this isn’t like going to class!

This is totally self-paced and you get access to a wide range of tutorials, community features and 1-to-1 coaching. It’s up to you to decide what are the most interesting and important things to you right now.

The platform is hosted by booking agent & manager Matt Fripp, who does the 1-to-1 coaching, standalone courses lessons and provides feedback in the private forum.

However, there are also a range of industry guests who pass through the community to present coaching sessions and training, as well as to answer your questions.

The goal is not to take the advice of one person, but to get a range of information and suggestions and to figure out how it might best help your specific career.

As such, you should meet some useful contacts during the programme!
