ALEXANDER BEETS

Big Sounds | Maxanter Records (2021)

Alexander ‘The Hurricane’ Beets presents Big Sounds: a perfect blend of swing, ballads, standards and originals, drenched in contemporary jazz and swing: an ultimate tribute to the tenor greats we all know and love such as Stanley Turrentine, Hank Mobley and Houston Person.

Beets brings a lineup of Dutch greats to the table, including Beets Brother Marius on bass, Miles Davis Institute-acknowledged trumpeter Ellister van der Molen and rising stars Tim Hennekes and Sven Rozier on drums. On piano, Dutch jazz-meets-classical prodigy Sebastiaan van Bavel and Spanish powerhouse Miguel Rodriguez join the gang.

Opening with the appropriately named Blues For The Legends, Big Sounds is sure to have you swinging in your seat.

And swing is no stranger to the Dutch tenor player; he previously joined lineups across the globe, playing with names such as Igor Butman and Sylwester Ostrowski, Koh Mr Saxman and Camille Thurman all over Europe, Colombia, South Africa, Thailand and India.  With Big Sounds, it is time for the rest of the world to start swinging to the Beets groove too!
